About the Product
The AKAI RFMA-K140S is a 90-litre single-door refrigerator built for bulk institutional supply — tropical climate class rated to 43°C ambient, 0.49 kWh per 24 hours, 22 kg, and 345 units to a 40ft high-cube container. It is designed for the rooms most fridges are not: staff accommodation, labour accommodation blocks, site offices, pantries, studios and compact units where ambient temperature is high, space is tight and the unit has to keep running without attention.
Rated for UAE conditions, not European ones
This is the specification that matters most in bulk accommodation supply, and the one most buyers never check.
The RFMA-K140S carries climate class N/ST/T — certified for operation up to the T (tropical) rating of +43°C ambient.
Most compact refrigerators sold at the low end of this market are SN or N class, rated only to +32°C. That is fine in a continuously air-conditioned apartment. It is not fine in:
- An accommodation block where air conditioning is zoned, timed, or switched off during working hours
- A pantry, store or corridor position with no dedicated cooling
- A site office or portacabin
- A room that takes direct afternoon sun
- Any location during a power interruption or an AC breakdown
Run a 32°C-rated fridge above its rating and you get higher consumption, condensation and door-seal sweating, failure to hold a safe internal temperature, and a materially shortened compressor life. Across 100 units in a single accommodation block, that becomes a replacement cycle rather than an inconvenience.
The T rating is what prevents it. For procurement into staff housing, this specification should be a shortlisting criterion, not an afterthought.
Running cost, which the operator pays
At 0.49 kWh per 24 hours, the RFMA-K140S consumes approximately 179 kWh per year.
At Dubai rates of roughly 34 fils per kWh (28 fils slab plus the 6 fils fuel surcharge), that works out at:
| Units installed | Approximate annual electricity cost |
|---|---|
| 1 unit | AED 61 |
| 50 units | AED 3,040 |
| 100 units | AED 6,081 |
| 200 units | AED 12,162 |
Those figures are indicative — confirm against your own DEWA tariff and current fuel surcharge, which is revised monthly. But the structure of the calculation is the point: on a 100-unit installation running for seven years, the gap between an efficient unit and a careless one is a real line in the operating budget, and it is paid by whoever holds the electricity account.
The R600a refrigerant charge is a modern, low global-warming-potential hydrocarbon with better thermodynamic efficiency than the older R134a it replaced, which is part of how the consumption figure is achieved.
Built for rooms where space is the constraint
- 450 mm wide, 490 mm deep, 831 mm high. The height sits below a standard worktop, so it can be installed under a counter in an office pantry or studio kitchenette, or stand free against a wall.
- Internal condenser. There is no exposed coil on the back. The unit sits closer to the wall, there is no cooling grille to be damaged during installation or to collect dust and lint — a genuine maintenance saving in dusty site and accommodation environments where exposed coils clog and efficiency falls away.
- Reversible door. The hinge can be fitted on either side. In accommodation blocks built to mirrored room layouts, this means a single SKU serves every room instead of ordering two door configurations.
- Adjustable feet to level the unit on uneven screed or tiled floors.
Specified for bulk handling and installation
- 22 kg net weight. One person can carry and position a unit. On a 200-room installation, that is the difference between a two-man crew per floor and a single installer.
- 24 kg gross, 880 × 520 × 460 mm packed. Approximately 0.21 m³ per unit.
- 345 units per 40ft high-cube container — roughly 72.6 m³ and 8,280 kg gross. Useful when planning shipment consolidation, phased delivery or site storage against a handover date.
Day-to-day features
- Adjustable thermostat — set once at commissioning and leave it.
- Interior lighting.
- Internal chiller compartment behind a hinged flap for ice and short-term frozen storage.
- Silver finish, which hides marks better than white in high-traffic shared accommodation.
Two things to be clear about before you order
There is no door lock. The manufacturer specification states this plainly, and so do we. If you are fitting shared rooms where occupants each need secured storage, this is not the model — tell us and we will quote a lockable alternative instead of letting you find out at handover.
90 litres suits one to two occupants, a desk-side office fridge, a pantry or a studio. It is not sized as the single shared refrigerator for a room of six or eight workers. For shared kitchens serving a full accommodation wing you want a larger capacity unit, and we can specify both in the same order.
Who this is specified for
Facilities management companies and accommodation operators fitting out staff and labour housing. Contractors equipping site offices and portacabins. Office fit-out and FM contractors supplying pantries and break rooms. Hotel and hospitality operators fitting back-of-house and staff quarters. Property developers and landlords furnishing studios and compact units. Any buyer purchasing in quantity who needs the same unit available across a multi-phase project.
Buying in volume from Cart Max Electronics
We supply refrigeration in quantity across the UAE, and we work the way project procurement actually runs.
Project pricing on volume, with a formal quotation against your specification or BOQ.
Phased delivery against your handover programme, and — this is the one that causes most problems in the market — confirmed model availability across the full project timeline before you commit to phase one, so you are not left with two floors of a building carrying a different model because the first SKU was discontinued between phases.
Complete documentation — trade licence, VAT certificate, country of origin and conformity documentation — for tender submissions, FM contracts and government or semi-government supply.
Genuine UAE stock with a tax invoice. That invoice is what makes your statutory cover under UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 5 of 2023 enforceable: a minimum one-year warranty against manufacturing defects, with repair, replacement and refund as remedies in that order, and the burden of proof on the seller for any defect appearing in the first six months. On a 200-unit order, enforceable warranty terms are worth considerably more than a few dirhams off the unit price.
Send us your room count, the installation locations and your delivery programme and we will come back with project pricing, lead times and a container plan. If a different capacity or a lockable model suits the application better, we will say so.
