How much better is the battery than the standard Pro? Substantially. The Pro Max delivers up to 45 hours of video playback against 36 hours on the iPhone 18 Pro — roughly nine additional hours from the same charge. The larger chassis houses a 5,391 mAh cell, and removing the SIM tray on UAE eSIM models freed further space.
How fast does it charge? Five minutes on a wired charger returns about seven hours of video playback. For a genuinely heavy user, that changes how you treat the phone during a long day — a short top-up between meetings replaces planning around a charger.
What is the variable aperture camera? Six laser-cut blades physically move between four aperture settings, controlling depth of field and light intake mechanically rather than simulating it in software. It works automatically, or manually through a new Pro controls panel exposing shutter speed, white balance and a histogram.
Is the chip different from the iPhone 18 Pro? No — both use the same A20 Pro, Apple's first 2-nanometre chip, with a 6-core CPU, 6-core GPU and second Neural Engine. The difference between the two models is screen size and battery life, not processing power.
Does the larger body run cooler? Yes. Both Pro models use a new vapor chamber thermal system, and the Pro Max has more internal volume to dissipate heat. For sustained 4K recording or extended gaming, it holds peak performance longer.
What colours and storage are available? Four colours — black, silver, glacier (blue) and burgundy (red) — across 256GB, 512GB, 1TB and 2TB. The 2TB tier suits anyone shooting ProRes video regularly.
Is it eSIM only in the UAE? Yes. No physical SIM tray. Two active eSIMs are supported, with storage for eight or more. Arrange a carrier transfer if your number currently sits on a physical SIM.
